A Wavelet Analysis of Transient Spike Trains of Hodgkin-Huxley Neurons
نویسنده
چکیده
Transient spike trains consisting of M (= 1 5) pulses generated by single Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neurons, have been analyzed by using both the continuous and discrete wavelet transformations (WT). We have studied effects of variations in the interspike intervals (ISI) of the spikes and effects of noises on the energy distribution and the wavelet entropy, which are expressed in terms of the WT expansion coefficients. The results obtained by the WT are discussed in connection with those obtained by the Fourier transformation.

Stochastic resonance of ensemble neurons for transient spike trains: wavelet analysis.
By using the wavelet transformation (WT), I have analyzed the response of an ensemble of N (=1, 10, 100, and 500) Hodgkin-Huxley neurons to transient M-pulse spike trains (M=1 to 3) with independent Gaussian noises. The cross correlation between the input and output signals is expressed in terms of the WT expansion coefficients. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is evaluated by using the denoisin...
متن کاملSpiking Neurons: Is coincidence-factor enough for comparing responses with fluctuating membrane voltage?
Similarity between two spike trains is generally estimated using a ‘coincidence factor’. This factor relies on counting coincidences of firing-times for spikes in a given time window. However, in cases where there are significant fluctuations in membrane voltages, this uni-dimensional view is not sufficient. Results in this paper show that a two-dimensional approach taking both firing-time and ...
متن کاملDiscussion on the Spike Train Recognition Mechanisms in Neural Circuits
The functions of neural system, such as learning, recognition and memory, are the emergences from the elementary dynamic mechanisms. To discuss how the dynamic mechanisms in the neurons and synapses work in the function of recognition, a dynamic neural circuit is designed. In the neural circuit, the information is expressed as the inter-spike intervals of the spike trains. The neural circuit wi...

متن کاملWaveform sample method of excitable sensory neuron
We present a new interpretation for encoding information of the period of input signals into spiketrains in individual sensory neuronal systems. The spike-train could be described as the waveform sample of the input signal which locks sample points to wave crests with randomness. Based on simulations of the Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neuron responding to periodic inputs, we demonstrate that the random...
